November Meeting

On November 3, 2008, get ready to meet Adobe InDesign CS4. This amazing new release will help you -- help us all -- continue to deliver innovative ideas in print and digital design.

InDesign CS4 breaks down the barriers between online and offline publishing to help you create compelling print and web materials and interactive PDF documents -- all with the beautiful typography we rely on and the stunning design we've come to expect.

- Conditional text

Gabriel Powell will be demonstrating the new features and answering your questions. Gabriel is the author of the newly published book "Instant InDesign: Designing Templates for Fast and Efficient Page Layout." September 2008 meeting

We are going to shake up the meeting format this month and meet at Panera on 42nd and Westown Pkw in West Des Moines. We've reserved the room in the back of the restaurant. We won't have a formal speaker format, instead we will loosely base our topic around the process of buying and using the features of the new iPhone. The meeting will be on Thursday, September 4 at 6:30 pm. Grab a cup of java and join us on Thursday.

Digital Arts Group Annual Picnic

Thursday, July 10, 6:30pm

Location: 515 Hillside, West Des Moines. It is near Valley Junction 
just west of 5th St.

No RSVP required.

Take a break from the routine and meet up at Kevin House's residence 
on Thursday, July 10, for fun and food on the deck. This is a potluck 
so bring your own meat to grill, beverage, and dish to share. Don't 
forget the lawn chair. Paper plates and utensils will be supplied by 
DAG.

Please note that due to July 4 being on Friday this year, the picnic 
will be the SECOND Thursday of the month.

June 5, 2008 Membership Meeting

Be at the Digital Arts Group June meeting, Thursday, June 5 at 6:30 at Haddock Computer in Clive.

Learn about Adobe's new Photoshop Express, a beta online version that handles some basic image editing jobs like cropping, rotating, exposure  and saturation adjustment, red-eye removal, adjusting white balance, and more. While it's no substitute for an installed image-editing application, it can help for quick touch-ups and posting images online. Oh yes--and be prepared to allow a lot of time to complete your work! Wayne Davis will be the presenter. Door prize giveaway!

Join us on location at Jordan Creek Town Center’s Apple Store as the store’s resident geniuses showcase what’s new in hardware, software and all things Apple. This is a special meeting and will be held on location at the Apple Store within the mall and on a special date, so note the venue and date change. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask in depth questions, touch and sample any of the products showcased and be among the first to see the Apple Airbook – Apple’s thinnest laptop to date. Blogger Essential Training with Molly E. Holzschlag is a movie-based workshop for audiences new to blogging and to the newly revamped Blogger weblog service, a free service from Google. Begin by learning what blogs are and the various ways they can be used. You'll quickly get into setting up your weblog, adding specialty features such as comment systems and news-feeds, working with and customizing templates, and even creating team blogs and audio blogs. The included exercise files, articles, and resources enhance the title, allowing you to follow along with the movies and learn at your own pace.
